My Dream: Shurer Dhara
The humble beginning of Shurer Dhara can be traced back to 14th April (poila boishakh), 1992 in the drawing room of my house.  The inspiration and the encouragement to open a school without having a group of my own came from my guru late Konika Bandyopadhyay.  She always used to tell us that it is not enough just to sing the songs of Tagore, it is really important to continue the tradition of the guru-shishya parampara that was started by Tagore himself to preserve the original form and style of his songs, the Rabindra Sangeet.  Tagore’s direct disciples and such stalwarts in Rabindra Sangeet as Dinnedranath Tagore, Indira Devi Choudhurany, Shantidev Ghosh, and Shailajaranjan Mazumdar kept this philosophy alive by teaching the next generation, Mohordi being one of their primary disciples.  She thus wanted to spread such a style of learning in Bangladesh.  She told me that such a learning can only be achieved through formal training through a music school.  She herself named my school as “Shurer Dhara”.  I, of course, have added my own thoughts and philosophy that was developed through my training in Shantinikatan. I want my students in this school to learn not only the singing and the style, but the complete philosophy behind Ranbindra Sangeet, in all of its greatness and glory.
